As it continues raising money for the park, the All Together Albert Lea Inclusive Playground Committee has started selling bricks that will be installed at the new playground.

Bricks are $250, and anyone interested should contact a member of the committee or stop at the Tribune and ask for Editor Sarah Stultz. She can also be reached by phone at 507-379-3433 or email at sarah.stultz@albertleatribune.com.

The bricks provide an opportunity to honor or memorialize a family member or to recognize your business or family name. This would be a great legacy project to be a part of.

The committee has less than $150,000 remaining to raise in its effort to build the playground out of a total cost of over $1.2 million with hopes that the playground will be built later this year, as long as the remaining funds are raised.

The committee will also be participating in the upcoming Big Freeze on Feb. 10 with a Plunge for the Park on Edgewater Bay starting at 11 a.m. and a chili cook-off and bake sale from noon to 2 p.m. at the Edgewater Bay Pavilion, across from where the new playground will be built.

Anyone interested in bringing chili or baked goods can reach out to Stultz to find out more details.

The top three chilis will receive special recognition.
